Youth of the Month

The Youth of the Month award is given to an eighth grade student each month for exceeding in class, being hardworking, getting good grades and being a leader. "OJHS does Youth of the Month, because the school wants to acknowledge and recognize those students who really excel and are putting in their top effort," states Mrs. Zamudio, who is currently the head of the Youth of the Month award.

The student who receives the award also receives the recognition of being Youth of the Month and will also be acknowledged as a Youth of the Month student in the end of the year at eighth grad awards night.  The student who receives the award also gets a special prize which has not been revealed yet.  Also, at the end of the year, the teachers choose a lucky student to receive Youth of the Year award.  The student who receives this award, also gets to go to lunch with the other Youth of the Year students from the other schools.

Starting in September, at the end of every month, teachers choose the student who is to receive the award each month by gathering together at a staff meeting, and choosing several candidates to vote on.  Then the teachers redo it again the next month.

So, work hard, be a leader, and come to school with a great attitude, to have a chance to earn this great award.
